The appointment was confirmed at the\nCommission\u2019s Oct. 14 meeting and his tenure as director officially began Nov.\n1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Grayson-Ardies-1-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16806\" width=\"183\" height=\"274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Grayson-Ardies-1-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Grayson-Ardies-1-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Grayson-Ardies-1.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 183px) 100vw, 183px\" \/><figcaption><em>Grayson Ardies<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Ardies, 33, started as an Airport &amp; Aerospace Industry\nDevelopment Intern in 2009 and has moved up the ranks with his most recent role\nas the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission Deputy Director. Ardies has contributed\nsignificantly to aviation and aerospace and has provided excellent service to\nconstituents and citizens in the aviation and aerospace community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGrayson is one of the youngest state agency directors in\nOklahoma history and that speaks volumes to his capabilities,\u201d said Oklahoma\nTransportation Secretary Tim Gatz. \u201cHe possesses a unique combination of\ntechnical knowledge to solve complex challenges and also being able to convey\nto the public the vital benefits of aeronautics investments. I am excited to\nwork with Grayson in his new role.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ardies has led many complex statewide initiatives and\nprojects including a three-year effort working with the Oklahoma State\nLegislature to protect military training airspace, a two-year Aviation and\nAerospace Economic Impact Study published in 2017 concluding that the industry\nis the second largest economic engine in the state, and development at Carlton\nLanding Airport on Lake Eufaula through a P3 (public\/private) partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month, Ardies was awarded the 2020 State Aviation\nDistinguished Service Award from the National Association of State Aviation\nOfficials (NASAO). The award honors state aviation personnel who have excelled\nin their service and dedication to aviation progress and development in their\nstate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ardies graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2009\nwith a degree in Aviation Management. He is a Yukon resident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ardies replaces long-time director Victor Bird, who\nannounced his retirement in October after serving as director for 18 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m honored to lead such a great agency, one that has\nshaped my career and introduced me to so many great Oklahomans,\u201d said Ardies.\n\u201cI look forward to working with our local and national industry partners as\nOklahoma navigates the current challenges to find new successes for our\nbusinesses and communities statewide.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission has named Grayson Ardies as its new State Director of Aeronautics.
