Tune Airport\u00ae"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA)\nannounced today aviation industry veteran Jeff Roach as the executive director\nof operations and development at John C. Tune Airport\u00ae effective Nov. 2, 2020.\nJWN\u00ae is the reliever airport for Nashville International Airport\u00ae that serves\nthe needs of the region\u2019s corporate and private aircraft and is the largest\ngeneral aviation airport in the state. He joined MNAA in 2018 as assistant vice\npresident, strategic planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Roach-Jeff_0070web-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16778\" width=\"186\" height=\"279\"\/><figcaption><em>Jeff Roach<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Roach is an American Association of Airport Executives\naccredited airport executive with more than 40 years of aviation experience,\nincluding serving as manager of the Fairbanks International Airport, where he\nadministered all airport functions. That airport is a regional hub airport\nserving more than 1 million passengers per year, with more than 500 based\ngeneral aviation aircraft and 100 airport employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also served as the Department of Transportation and\nPublic Facilities Northern Region transportation planning manager in Alaska,\nwhere he led a team of transportation planning professionals and supervised the\ncompletion of numerous commercial service airport master planning efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJeff Roach is the perfect fit for what the Airport\nAuthority needs at John C. Tune Airport,\u201d said Doug Kreulen, president and CEO\nof MNAA. \u201cHis experience managing airports, as well as his understanding of\nplanning and development, provides us with the skills and expertise we need to\ntake JWN to the next level.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the assistant vice president, strategic planning at MNAA,\nMr. Roach has overseen all airport planning, airspace, noise and airport grant\nmanagement activities as well as completing updates to the JWN Airport Layout\nPlan and the Nashville International Airport Master Plan. He has also led the\neffort to acquire grant funding for the construction of the JWN Air Traffic\nControl Tower (ATCT) and inclusion of the JWN ATCT in the FAA Contract Tower\nProgram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Roach has a wide range of aviation-related experience.\nHe served as a military aviator and aircraft mechanic. He is an FAA\ncommercial-instrument rated pilot with more than 1,000 hours of helicopter\nflight time. He spent more than 37 years as a member of the Alaska Army\nNational Guard. He began his career with the Alaska Army National Guard in 1981\nas a helicopter mechanic and crew chief. He was commissioned as an aviation\nsecond lieutenant and completed helicopter flight school the following year. He\nserved in command and staff positions through the rank of colonel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Roach held leadership positions in year-long deployments\nto Central Europe, the Balkans and Afghanistan. He managed military airports in\nKosovo and Afghanistan. In Kosovo he served as the Camp Bondsteel Airfield\nManager where he oversaw all aviation activity at the airfield. As the\noperations officer at Kandahar Air Base in Afghanistan, he planned and led the\nreturn of civil aviation at Kandahar International Airport after the airport\nhad been closed to the public for more than 20 years. In addition to numerous\nother awards, he received the Bronze Star for leadership in combat, the combat\naction badge, and the Legion of Merit at the culmination of his military\nservice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A lifelong learner, Mr. Roach earned a Master of Arts in\nmanagement, a Master of strategic studies, a Bachelor of Science in natural resource\nmanagement and an Associate of Applied Science in agriculture.
