{"id":1675,"date":"2014-11-19T04:19:12","date_gmt":"2014-11-19T04:19:12","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2014-11-19T04:19:12","modified_gmt":"2014-11-19T04:19:12","slug":"ntsb-affirms-faa-position-aircraft-pirker-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/news\/news-release\/ntsb-affirms-faa-position-aircraft-pirker-case\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NTSB Affirms FAA Position on Aircraft in Pirker Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Aviation Administration has a responsibility to protect the safety of the American people in the air and on the ground. <\/p>\n<p>The National Transportation Safety Board affirmed the agency&#8217;s position that unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) meet the legal definition of \u201caircraft,\u201d and that the agency may take enforcement action against anyone who operates a UAS or model aircraft in a careless or reckless manner.<\/p>\n<p>The FAA believes Mr. Pirker operated a UAS in a careless or reckless manner, and that the proposed civil penalty should stand.
