{"id":16722,"date":"2020-10-26T21:00:13","date_gmt":"2020-10-26T21:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=16722"},"modified":"2020-10-26T21:00:15","modified_gmt":"2020-10-26T21:00:15","slug":"know-before-you-fly-drone-education-campaign-expands-reach-with-addition-of-consumer-technology-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/unmanned-systems\/know-before-you-fly-drone-education-campaign-expands-reach-with-addition-of-consumer-technology-association\/%20","title":{"rendered":"\u201cKnow Before You Fly\u201d Drone Education Campaign Expands Reach with Addition of Consumer Technology Association"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International\n(AUVSI) and the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) announced in partnership\nwith the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that the Consumer Technology\nAssociation (CTA) has joined the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) education\ncampaign titled \u201cKnow Before You Fly.\u201d This program provides prospective UAS\noperators with the information and guidance they need to fly safely and\nresponsibly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKnow Before You Fly\u201d was founded in 2014 as a collaborative\neffort between industry and government to inform consumers and businesses about\nwhat they need to know before taking to the skies with a UAS, commonly referred\nto as a drone. The campaign includes a website, educational videos, a robust\nsocial media presence, and point-of-sale materials to ensure that prospective\noperators have the information and guidance on what they need to know before\nthey fly a UAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CTA is America\u2019s largest technology trade association\nrepresenting an industry that supports more than 18 million U.S. jobs. This\npowerful organization, which counts brands from startups to leading technology\ncompanies and beyond among its members, strengthens the campaign\u2019s capacity for\noutreach to the drone and non-drone communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Today, every company is or needs to be a tech company\n&#8211; and more industries are discovering that drone technology can be a\ngame-changer, &#8220;said Doug Johnson, CTA Vice President, Technology Policy.\n\u201cFrom the agriculture and energy to the retail and entertainment sectors,\ndrones are delivering more innovative, more efficient ways of doing business.\nAnd we&#8217;re excited to join these groups on such an important mission.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOver the past six years, \u2018Know Before You Fly\u2019 has educated\ncountless new UAS operators on the safe operational requirements of their\naircraft before they have taken to the air,\u201d said AUVSI president and CEO Brian\nWynne. \u201cThe campaign has been a great success to date, and having CTA on board\nwith us ensures we will continue to grow our outreach capacity as the market\ncontinues to expand with civil, commercial and recreational flyers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Academy of Model Aeronautics, founded in 1936, serves as\nthe nation\u2019s collective voice for approximately 175,000 modelers and 2,400\nclubs in the United States and Puerto Rico. Headquartered in Muncie, Indiana,\nAMA is a membership organization representing those who fly model aircraft for\nrecreational and educational purposes.
