Sederberg &#8211; CDOT Aeronautics Division.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Colorado Remote Tower Project at the Northern Colorado\nRegional Airport (FNL) made one more major step forward. On October 12, 2020,\nU.S. Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO), a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce,\nScience, and Transportation announced the Federal Aviation Administration&#8217;s\n(FAA) approval of the Northern Colorado Regional Airport (FNL) application to\nthe FAA&#8217;s Contract Tower (FCT) program. This approval will allow FNL to be\neligible under the program should the FAA approve a tower at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m proud to work with communities across our state to\nsupport their transportation priorities, and this announcement is good news for\nNorthern Colorado Regional Airport,\u201d said Senator Gardner. \u201cRegional airports\nacross Colorado play a critical role in their local economies and modernizing\nour infrastructure and transportation systems is important for our quality of\nlife. Going forward, I will continue my work to support the needs of airports\nacross Colorado.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently in the initial testing phase, the Colorado Remote\nTower Project is the first of its kind to combine visual\/camera input and\nradar\/track-based input, allowing for control of air traffic at airports from a\nremote location.
