Dr. Dixon is one of 30 leaders chosen by Elaine Chao, US\nDepartment of Transportation Secretary, for the FAA Women in Aviation Advisory\nBoard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karrie-Dixon-chancellor-ECSU.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16498\" width=\"138\" height=\"215\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karrie-Dixon-chancellor-ECSU.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karrie-Dixon-chancellor-ECSU-193x300.jpg 193w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 138px) 100vw, 138px\" \/><figcaption><em>Dr. Karrie Dixon<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the virtual meeting, Dr. Dixon walked EAA members\nthrough the UNC System four-year aviation degree programs as well as her role\non the FAA Advisory Board. The ECSU Aviation Science Program is the only\nfour-year aviation science degree program in North Carolina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur aviation growth has been phenomenal,\u201d said Dr. Dixon. \u201cWe\nhave a quality program here.\u201d The Chancellor went on to say that aviation has\nto be their signature program; that no one else in North Carolina is offering\nwhat they do. \u201cWe give our students the best training they can receive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Steele Scott, Chapter President, said he was excited to\nlearn more about the degree programs offered by ECSU and felt fortunate that\nDr. Dixon and her team enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to meet with\nChapter members virtually. \u201cDuring this extreme challenge for educators, Dr.\nDixon and key University people are taking valuable time from their schedule to\npresent to us,\u201d said Scott. \u201cWe saw first-hand during the presentation, the\nUniversity of North Carolina&#8217;s commitment to provide a low-cost four-year\ndegree aviation degree along with the least expensive, high quality flight\ntraining in our country.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kuldeep Rawat, Thorpe Endowed Professor &amp; Dean, School\nof Science, Aviation, Health, and Technology, presented as well, providing additional\ndetails about the program. \u201cWe had a humble beginning,\u201d said Rawat. \u201cWe started\nwith two aircraft and now have twelve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/ECSU-Drone-fleet.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16499\" width=\"285\" height=\"159\"\/><figcaption><em>ECSU Drone Fleet<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Along with the training aircraft, the Aviation Science\nFacilities offers a flight simulator lab, a high-fidelity UAS simulation and\ntraining lab, an ATC simulator lab, a NASA Aerospace Education lab and a mobile\nSTEM lab.
