Engen Aero Club Trophy for Aviation Excellence 2020\nto Michael Quiello.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"154\" height=\"200\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Michael-Quiello-ed.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16408\"\/><figcaption><em>Michael Quiello<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Quiello is known throughout the aviation community for\nhis vast knowledge and expertise in industry as well as extraordinary\nleadership and longstanding commitment to working along\u00e2\u0080\u0090side industry\ncolleagues and government regulators to seek solutions for aviation\nsafety.&nbsp; He is known for his keen ability\nto inspire others to work toward the shared goal of developing measures to\ncontinuously strengthen the commercial aviation system. Mr. Quiello started his\ncareer with Delta Air Lines in 1981 where he continued his service for 28 years\nin several leadership positions including the role of vice president of safety,\nsecurity and environment. He then joined United Airlines in 2009 as Vice\nPresident of Corporate Safety where he was responsible for managing all aspects\nof safety including training for the airline.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to his safety roles, both at Delta and United,\nfrom 2014 to 2016 Mr. Quiello was the industry co-\u00c2\u00ad\u00e2\u0080\u0090chair for the Aviation\nSafety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) program and from 2016 to 2020\nthe industry co-\u00c2\u00ad\u00e2\u0080\u0090chair of the Commercial Aviation Safety Team (CAST).&nbsp; Most recently, Mr. Quiello was instrumental\nin leading CAST to develop and publish a consolidated list of key safety elements\nfor aviation organizations to monitor during this period of dynamic change as a\nresult of the COVID-\u00c2\u00ad\u00e2\u0080\u009019 pandemic.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a joint statement from Airlines for America (A4A), Cargo\nAirline Association (CAA), and Flight Safety Foundation, they noted,\n\u201cThroughout Michael\u2019s professional career in aviation, both in the public and\nprivate sectors, he has established himself&nbsp;\nas&nbsp; the&nbsp; consummate&nbsp;\nleader&nbsp; in&nbsp; promoting&nbsp;\nsafety&nbsp; for&nbsp; the&nbsp;\ntraveling&nbsp; public&nbsp; and&nbsp;\nairline&nbsp; employees.&nbsp; Aviation safety worldwide has been elevated through\nhis tireless efforts to develop safety enhancements that are critical to aviation\nbeing the safest mode of transportation on earth.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Aero Club of Washington has announced it will present its prestigious Donald D.
