The Eastern Michigan University Aviation Program<\/a>, part of the College of Engineering and Technology, has signed a 5-year partnership agreement with Crosswinds Aviation<\/a>, a flight training school dedicated to having a transformative impact on the lives of youth beginning careers in aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are thrilled to partner with Crosswinds Aviation\nand know that this strategic partnership will ultimately ensure that Eastern\nMichigan University aviation students can graduate with the highest standard\naviation education and training,” said Dr. Jerard Delaney, Aviation\nProgram Coordinator. “Crosswinds’ resources, access to the latest avionics\ntechnology, and its commitment to encouraging middle and high school students\nto careers in aviation is a natural fit with Eastern’s commitment to shaping\nthe next generation of leaders — in aviation and otherwise.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new partnership will add a variety of benefits to the\nEastern Michigan University Aviation Program. With three locations in the\nLivingston County Spencer J Hardy, Flint Bishop and Oakland County\nInternational Airports, Crosswinds Aviation will offer easier access for\ncommuter students in Livingston, Genesee and Oakland counties. With plans to\nadd a Willow Run location in the near future, EMU Aviation students will soon\nhave four convenient locations for training instead of one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crosswinds Aviation will also provide students the\nopportunity to flight train in a wider variety of aircraft, including the\nDiamond DA20\/DA40 and Cessna 172. The hands-on training in multiple aircraft\nwill ensure EMU Aviation students are well-versed in different aircraft upon\ngraduation and entering the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a commitment to opening the doors for students who have\nthe desire and passion to fly, Crosswinds also has a High School Flight\nProgram, which exposes students to many aspects of the aviation industry. The\nprogram has been in existence since 2013, with Flint Bishop Airport most\nrecently offering the program. More than 80 high school students having\ncompleted the high school training program have continued on to EMU for their\naviation degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“At Crosswinds Aviation, we are committed to working\nwith young students and helping them get started on their aviation\ncareer,” said Crosswinds Aviation owner, Matt Dahline. “The\npartnership with Eastern Michigan University will allow us to connect with, and\nhelp, even more students beyond high school who desire a career in aviation. We\nlook forward to the opportunities this partnership will open up for aspiring\npilots.”  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the high school training, students get the\nopportunity to meet with industry experts, as well as free simulator time and\ncomputer-based ground training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
