Chao announced on September 2nd, that the Trump Administration will award more than $1.2 billion in airport safety and infrastructure grants through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to 405 airports in 50 states and the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, Palau, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis $1.2 billion federal investment will improve our\nnation\u2019s airport infrastructure, enhance safety, and strengthen growth in local\ncommunities, which is especially important as the economy recovers from\nCOVID-19,\u201d said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A complete <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/airports\/aip\/2020_aip_grants\/media\/FY20-AIP-Grants-Announced.pdf\">listing of grants<\/a> (PDF) and an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/airports\/aip\/2020_aip_grants\/map\/\">interactive map<\/a> of airports receiving funding is available on the FAA website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The total includes over $1 billion from the Airport\nImprovement Program (AIP) and $152 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and\nEconomic Security (CARES) Act grants to equal a 100 percent federal share.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe 434 AIP grants will fund critical airport\ninfrastructure projects around the country,\u201d said FAA Administrator Stephen M.\nDickson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The grants will be used for a variety of critical\ninfrastructure and safety projects. The projects include purchasing aircraft\nrescue and firefighting equipment, constructing runways and taxiways, repairing\nrunways and taxiways, installing aircraft lighting and signage, conducting\nairport master plan studies and installing airport perimeter fencing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since January 2017, the Trump Administration has delivered\n$13.5 billion to America\u2019s Airports to improve infrastructure and safety.
