{"id":16353,"date":"2020-09-08T11:53:05","date_gmt":"2020-09-08T11:53:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=16353"},"modified":"2020-09-08T11:53:07","modified_gmt":"2020-09-08T11:53:07","slug":"ohio-aviation-association-elects-new-board-members-officers-and-presents-awards-at-annual-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/ohio\/ohio-aviation-association-elects-new-board-members-officers-and-presents-awards-at-annual-conference\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Ohio Aviation Association Elects New Board Members, Officers and Presents Awards at Annual Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Ohio Aviation Association (OAA) kicked-off its annual\nconference, themed \u201cOAA 2020: A Flight Plan for Tomorrow!\u201d on August 31, 2020.\nThis year\u2019s conference provided airports and businesses that support and serve\nairports, the opportunity to learn the latest trends in aviation, hear from\nFederal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Ohio Department of Transportation\n(ODOT) officials, and mingle with peers \u2013virtually! Due to COVID-19, the OAA\nheld its conference virtually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The 2020 Annual Conference provides great\nopportunities for professional development, sharing of ideas, and a bit of\nnetworking even during these tough times of limited physical interaction,&#8221;\nsaid Rick McQueen, newly elected President of the Board of Directors of the\nOAA. &#8220;Ohio has a strong group of airport professionals who help define the\nfuture of our State\u2019s airport system and we came together to support one\nanother.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OAA\u2019s Annual Business Meeting, held August 31, presented\nits slate of officers as well as nominations for new Board members. OAA is\npleased to welcome three returning and two new directors-at-large:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Returning Board Members:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Justin Anderson, CM, Senior Airport Planner with\nthe Columbus Regional Airport Authority<\/li><li>Brian Crosier, PE, Associate\/Project Manager\nwith Stantec Consultants<\/li><li>Matthew Schnelle, PE, Senior Aviation Engineer\nwith RS&amp;H Consultants<\/li><li>New Board Members:<\/li><li>Amanda McGee, Airport Manager with Wayne County\nAirport<\/li><li>Ronnie Powell, Vice President of Operations with\nEverest Fuel<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Officers for the 2020-2021 year included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>President: Rick McQueen, Board Chairman of\nCanton Regional Chamber and recently retired President &amp; CEO of\nAkron-Canton Airport<\/li><li>Vice President: Russ Kline, Operations Manager\nwith the City of Dayton Department of Aviation<\/li><li>Treasurer: Gary Folden, Treasurer\/Secretary with\nthe Jefferson County Airpark<\/li><li>Secretary: Elton Cultice, Jr., Airport Manager\nwith Urbana\/Grimes Field<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The association also honors individuals and organizations\nexemplifying the goals and objectives of the OAA by presenting each with an\naward. Those receiving honors this year included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aviation Student of the Year: Ohio\u2019s aviation industry\nsuccess depends upon the engagement of its future leaders. This award\nrecognizes an aviation student member for demonstrating leadership, service,\nand dedication to advancing their education in an aviation trade. OAA was\npleased to present a recent graduate of the Ohio State University, Mr. Rohan\nSheth, with this award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Airport Business of the Year: This award honors a business\nthat makes a significant impact on their community and on Ohio airports\u2019\nsuccess. OAA was pleased to present this award to Jess Howard Electric Company.\nThe award was accepted by Jon Howard, President of Jess Howard Electric Co.\nPresent to help accept the award was Scott Suchland, Project Manager\/Estimator,\nand Corda Bowen. Project Manager, with Jess Howard Electric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Legislator of the Year: This award honors the Ohio\nlegislator that has gone above and beyond for our members\u2019 needs. From\nintroducing legislation aimed at improving airport operations to bringing\nattention to the State\u2019s airports which serve as community economic engines.\nOAA was pleased to present this award to Representative Rick Perales, District\n73. Representative Perales has been a long-time aviation supporter in the State\nof Ohio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Airport of the Year: This award is an acknowledgment of an\nairport that makes great accomplishments in moving its airport program forward\nall while staying grounded in its community. They offer a medium for exchanging\nideas, sharing information, and outstanding customer service. OAA is pleased to\npresent this award to the Wayne County Airport. The award was accepted by\nAmanda McGee, Airport Manager, and Matthew Long, Assistant Airport Manager.\nAlso present were County Commissioners Sue Smail and Becky Foster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OAA honored each recipient with a short video.
