The effort will be\npart of the agency\u2019s Airport Unmanned Aircraft Systems Detection and Mitigation\nResearch Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/FAA-Test.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16283\" width=\"228\" height=\"151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/FAA-Test.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/FAA-Test-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 228px) 100vw, 228px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested manufacturers, vendors, and integrators of drone\ndetection and\/or mitigation technologies\/systems will have 45 days to respond\nto the FAA\u2019s announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FAA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/about\/reauthorization\/\">Reauthorization Act of 2018<\/a> requires the agency to ensure that technologies used to detect or mitigate potential risks posed by unmanned aircraft do not interfere with safe airport operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FAA expects to issue another solicitation in the coming\nweeks for airport operators interested in hosting the additional research and\ntesting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced last week that it plans to evaluate technologies and systems that could detect and mitigate potential safety risks posed by unmanned aircraft.
