Lara Kaufmann, Associate Director at the Greenville\nDowntown Airport (KGMU), has been named Co-Chair along with Ben Harrison,\nGeneral Manager at the Cullman Regional Airport (KCMD). The General Aviation\nAirports Committee will provide NATA\u2019s airport membership a voice for the\nsafety, quality, and security issues impacting airports and aviation\nbusinesses. Committee members will address emerging concerns associated with\nCOVID-19, and other issues pertaining to landlord\/tenant relations, airport\nrevenues, fuel quality, fire codes, customs, lease agreements, minimum\nstandards, and hangar development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of the NATA leadership and our membership, our\nassociation committed to the formation of the General Aviation Airports\nCommittee to highlight the valuable services and jobs that the business\naviation industry provides to their communities,\u201d stated NATA Board Chairman\nCurt Castagna. \u201cThis effort is consistent with NATA\u2019s mission to encourage\nfostering collaborative approaches between airport sponsors, aeronautical\ntenants and the surrounding community in addressing challenges and\nopportunities that support maximizing the economic potential for such\npublic\/private partnerships.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NATA represents over 300 general aviation airports,\nincluding more than 100 airport-sponsored FBOs. A key goal of this committee is\nto help raise the safety bar for this specific stakeholder group. \u201cNATA is\nexcited to help meet the unique needs of general aviation airports and its\ntenants. We aim to promote the important value these aviation businesses bring\nto their local communities, along with the nuances that make their businesses\nunique,\u201d stated NATA President and CEO Timothy Obitts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cComing together as representatives of the many different\ngeneral aviation airports across the country to share our challenges, find\nsolutions and work together to implement them will directly benefit the\naviation service providers that call general aviation airports home,\u201d stated\nCommittee Co-Chair Lara Kaufmann, Associate Director of the Greenville Downtown\nAirport in South Carolina. \u201cThis collaboration is extremely important as our\nindustry, like many others, rises to meet the new challenges brought on by the\nCOVID-19 pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs a current member of NATA\u2019s Airport Business Committee, I\nam honored and pleased to serve as a Co-Chair on this newly formed General\nAviation Airports Committee. General aviation airports are crucial economic\ndevelopment drivers of communities and play a vital role in their success.
