The AHNA Training Center in Grand Prairie, TX, has long been a\nUSAIG Safety Bucks program participant. That program enables policyholders that\noperate turbine-powered helicopters to select $2,500 in Safety Bucks to go\ntoward helicopter pilot or maintenance technician training expenses in each\nyear of policy coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kovarik_395x230.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16201\" width=\"333\" height=\"194\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kovarik_395x230.jpg 395w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kovarik_395x230-300x175.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/><figcaption><em>Kevin Kovarik<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>USAIG started the Safety Bucks program in the 1990s to\nassist and incentivize policyholders to make recurrent helicopter simulator\ntraining standard practice. It was later expanded to include helicopter\nmaintenance technician training and some in-aircraft training activities.&nbsp; In 2015 it was integrated into USAIG\u2019s\nbroader Performance Vector safety initiative, which provides a portfolio of\nsafety services from which eligible policyholders can make one annual\nselection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSafety Bucks is a great option as the annual safety benefit\nfor many of our helicopter policyholders,\u201d said Kevin Kovarik, USAIG Senior\nVice President and Lead for Rotary Wing Underwriting. \u201cWe are proud to boost\nthe reach and positive impact of our policyholders\u2019 safety and training\nresources, and excited to continue expanding opportunities with Airbus\nHelicopters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AHNA Training Center in Texas boasts a wide range of\nopportunities for operators to apply Safety Bucks.&nbsp; The training center leverages its experienced\ninstructors and modernized fleet of company-owned training aircraft and\ntraining devices to deliver world-class initial and recurrent maintenance and\nflight training courses for the light-through-heavy range of Airbus Helicopters\nmodels.&nbsp; The AHNA Training Center looks\nforward to the upcoming rollout of a new level D H145 full flight simulator by\nits simulation partner Helisim LLC, which already owns and operates AS350,\nEC1335, and EC145 simulation devices.&nbsp;\nThese simulators complement Airbus Helicopters\u2019 initial, recurrent, and\nsafety courses such as Inadvertent Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IIMC),\nwhich was designed to combat the increasing number of fatal IIMC accidents by\nproviding pilots with effective avoidance and recovery techniques. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>USAIG, Airbus Helicopters, and Helisim recognize that IIMC\ntraining addresses a critical safety threat faced by the entire helicopter\nindustry. That triggered a discussion about how USAIG could encourage its\npolicyholders to have pilots attend the IIMC course, and a limited-time\nopportunity was born.
