Pierpont Community & Technical College\u2019s Aviation\nMaintenance Technology program has reached an articulation agreement with\nSouthern Illinois University. This articulation will allow for Pierpont\nstudents looking to pursue their bachelor\u2019s degree in Aviation Maintenance Management\na path to complete their first two years at Pierpont, and then finish their\nfinal two years at Southern Illinois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SIU\u2019s Aviation Maintenance Management specialization is an\nonline degree completion program that offers graduates from two-year FAA Part\n147, avionics, and other aviation-related programs, who are already working\nprofessionals, the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Aviation\nTechnologies degree completely through distance education. Individuals are able\nto use previous coursework from an accredited institution and\/or related work\nexperience as required credit hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the SIU program being completely online, it provides\nstudents a flexible way to continue their education. \u201cStudents have the\nopportunity to attain their bachelor\u2019s degree after leaving Pierpont with this\nflexible program\u201d, states Dr. Brad Gilbert, Director of the National Aerospace Education\nCenter and Program Coordinator for Pierpont\u2019s Aviation Maintenance Technology program.\n\u201cStudents can begin working within the industry while they continue working\ntoward their bachelor\u2019s degree, giving them valuable experience and a quality\neducation simultaneously\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pierpont and SIU have been working on this articulation over\nthe past year, and this week, they were able to reach an agreement. \u201cAs an\nalumnus of Southern Illinois University, this agreement and program is near and\ndear to my heart\u201d, states Dr. Gilbert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
