The YIATF was established in October 2019 under the Federal\nAdvisory Committee Act, to provide independent advice and strategies to the FAA\nto promote aviation as a career choice for high school students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYour work representing the views of aviation and\neducational stakeholders and experts will greatly benefit YIATF and the\nDepartment\u2019s efforts to encourage and facilitate students in the United States\nto enroll in and complete courses of study related to an aviation career, and\nto identify and develop pathways for these students to secure careers in the\nU.S. aviation industry,\u201d said DOT Secretary Elaine Chao in a letter informing\nDamato of her appointment to the task force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Damato joined NBAA in 2001 to manage the association\u2019s Air\nTraffic Services function at the FAA Air Traffic Control System Command Center,\nand in 2007 she shifted the focus of her career to professional development.\nAppointed vice president of educational strategy and workforce development in\n2019, Damato is responsible for leading the team for all of NBAA\u2019s professional\ndevelopment activities, including the association\u2019s Professional Development\nStrategic Focus Team, Certified Aviation Manager Program, Professional\nDevelopment Program Review Committee, On-Demand Education and Scholarship\nProgram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A current certified flight instructor and NBAA Certified\nAviation Manager, Damato holds a single and multi-engine land instrument rating\nand a commercial pilot certificate. She has a bachelor\u2019s degree in aviation\nmanagement, flight option specialization, from the Florida Institute of\nTechnology, and a master\u2019s degree in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle\nAeronautical University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Damato is active with Women in Aviation International, Women\nin Corporate Aviation and the Florida Tech College of Aeronautics Alumni Board.\nIn 2010, she helped launch an all-volunteer non-profit organization, Sky Hope\nNetwork, which in 2018 merged with Patient Air Lift Services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am honored, excited and energized to join this important\ntask force,\u201d said Damato. \u201cI\u2019ve been passionate about aviation my whole life: I\nwas that 15-year-old high schooler inspired by the idea of a career in\naviation, but it was a challenge for my parents, teachers and guidance\ncounselors to help me start that journey.
