Executive Director Smith served\nas an at-large member of the AMAC Board of Directors over the past year and has\nbeen an active member of the national organization for many years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/RickySmith-300x400.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16036\" width=\"182\" height=\"242\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/RickySmith-300x400.png 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/RickySmith-300x400-225x300.png 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 182px) 100vw, 182px\" \/><figcaption><em>Ricky Smith<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDuring this period of unprecedented public health\nchallenges and heightened awareness around social injustices, I could not be\nprouder and more humbled by the AMAC community\u2019s confidence in my leadership,\u201d\nExecutive Director Smith said. \u201cI am joined by a Board of Directors that is\ncommitted to addressing the myriad challenges affecting women and minorities in\nthe aviation industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are keen on our charge to reposition AMAC as one of the\nmore influential and consequential trade organizations in the industry as we\nenhance our response to the membership, strengthen our alliance with\nlike-minded organizations, and expand our connection with the many\nunder-represented minority-owned businesses and professionals across the\nindustry,\u201d he said. \u201cI look forward to leading through these challenges and\nopportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Formed in 1984, AMAC is the only national nonprofit trade\nassociation dedicated to advance the full participation of minorities and women\nin employment and contracting opportunities throughout the aviation and\naerospace industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI congratulate Ricky on his election to lead AMAC, a\nrespected organization that works tirelessly to promote equality for women and\nminorities in the industry,\u201d MDOT Transportation Secretary Gregory Slater said.\n\u201cEqual opportunity in hiring and advancement is foundational in MDOT\u2019s mission\nto serve Maryland and all of its citizens, and I share the confidence of AMAC\nmembers that Ricky will do a tremendous job as a champion of these principles\non a national level at such a critical time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BWI Marshall Airport remains the busiest airport in the region and produces a total economic impact of $9.3 billion. The airport and visitors generate and support more than 106,000 jobs throughout the region.
