The rural and suburban areas of Alaska have struggled to obtain\nmedical supplies to treat both the normal flow of patients and new COVID-19\ncases. The medical supplies and PPE will be distributed to local hospitals by\nthe Alaska Conference of Adventist Community Services (ACS). ACS is the US arm\nof the Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA), both entities are partners\nof Airlink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Airlink and Alaska Airlines have previously partnered in\nresponse to hurricanes Dorian, Lane and Florence, as well as other COVID-19\nrelated aid programs. In April 2020, Alaska Airlines granted Airlink 250,000\nmiles to transport responders to communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic\nand other crises. The miles were donated by the airline\u2019s Mileage Plan\u2122 members\nthrough the Alaska Airlines Disaster Relief Pool, which is used to support\ncharities like Airlink involved with disaster relief efforts and for\ntransportation of medical staff and volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn times of crisis, Alaska Airlines has always answered our\ncalls for assistance. True to form, they have responded positively during our\nCOVID-19 response to ensure we have the resources needed to respond to the\npandemic and natural disasters occurring at the same time,\u201d said Steven J.\nSmith, Airlink president and CEO. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Airlink\u2019s COVID-19 response, under the <a href=\"https:\/\/airlinkflight.org\/aviationcares-campaign\/\">AviationC.A.R.E.S.<\/a> (Co-ordinated Air Response for Emergency Supplies) appeal, has included transporting medical teams and more than 100 tons of emergency cargo supporting frontline medical personnel and vulnerable beneficiaries in communities hard-hit by the pandemic in the United States, China and Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through Airlink more than 130 aid organizations can quickly\nand efficiently provide medical aid, food, access to clean water, shelter, and\nother assistance to some of the world\u2019s most vulnerable beneficiaries.
