WAI chapters and corporate members will not\nhost in-person events this year and will instead deliver a virtual experience\nthrough a new Aviation for Girls app that is free and available to all\nbeginning Saturday, September 26, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/giad_logo_no_bg_0.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15832\" width=\"239\" height=\"95\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/giad_logo_no_bg_0.png 683w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/giad_logo_no_bg_0-300x120.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 239px) 100vw, 239px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith the continued growth and success of Girls in Aviation\nDay \u2013 in large part due to the dedicated and tireless efforts of WAI Corporate\nMembers and Chapters all around the world \u2013 we knew we had to expand the GIAD\nexperience this year, and canceling wasn\u2019t an option,\u201d says WAI CEO Allison\nMcKay. \u201cWith input from our chapters, partners, board of directors, and staff,\nwe decided for the safety of our youngsters and volunteers, to provide a\nvirtual experience that takes no chances with safety.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Without geographic constraints, the Aviation for Girls app\nis the tool WAI will provide to allow more girls to experience the valuable WAI\ncontent, resources, career panel videos, hands-on activities, virtual tours,\nscholarships, and mentoring opportunities. Key to the GIAD experience is\nproviding participants the chance to meet role models to whom they can relate,\nsee in themselves, and who represent career opportunities they may never have\ndreamed of.&nbsp; In addition, GIAD attendees\nusing the app will qualify to apply for WAI 2021 scholarships and will receive\nmonthly WAI Connect eNewsletters, and the digital version of Aviation for Women\nmagazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important to note the Aviation for Girl app is not\nmeant to take the place of our future face-to-face GIAD events, but rather to\ncomplement the big day beyond 2020,\u201d adds Outreach Director Molly Martin. \u201cWe\nall agree that the app will extend the power of the day for the girls and help\nignite their aviation spark in thousands.
