Arizona\u2019s Scottsdale Airport will temporarily scale back its\nhours for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) service July 1 through Sept.\n30, 2020. Service hours will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday\nthrough Monday for both business and leisure travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Appointments outside of office hours may be available 24\nhours per day, seven days per week; requests outside of office hours are\nevaluated on a case by case basis and are based on officer availability. Service hours are being temporarily changed due to CBP’s\nrecent announcement of transitioning from flat-rate fees to full-cost recovery\nbilling starting July 1 to meet statutory requirements. This change\nsignificantly increases the cost to the airport to provide customs service.\nWith its announcement, the CBP also offered an option to pause services for\nthree months to help airport sponsors offset the increased costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Aviation Department decided this option was in\nScottsdale\u2019s best interest given a decreased demand for customs service during\nthe summer months, especially this year with COVID-19 impacts on international\ntravel. This will help Scottsdale defray some of the financial impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aviation staff is evaluating future financial impacts and\nadjustments to user fees and\/or service levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
