{"id":15693,"date":"2020-06-14T21:17:39","date_gmt":"2020-06-14T21:17:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=15693"},"modified":"2020-06-14T21:29:14","modified_gmt":"2020-06-14T21:29:14","slug":"aopa-encouraging-private-airport-owners-to-update-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/aopa-encouraging-private-airport-owners-to-update-data\/%20","title":{"rendered":"AOPA Encouraging Private Airport Owners to Update Data"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association is encouraging\nnearly 3,000 private airport owners to respond to a data verification request\nthey may have received in the mail from the FAA, asking owners to verify\nairport records by June 30 or risk being listed as \u201cclosed\u201d in the FAA\u2019s online\ndatabase and be removed from aeronautical charts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the FAA does not receive periodic updates about private\nairports from owners, charts may reflect incorrect airport information, or in\nsome cases show private airports that no longer exist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the owner of a private airport has not verified the\ninformation since January 2018, the airport could be listed as \u201cclosed\nindefinitely\u201d in the FAA\u2019s airport database starting in July and would be\nremoved from charts during the next charting cycle. If airport information on\nfile has been provided to the FAA since January 1, 2018, no action is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owners can view the <a href=\"https:\/\/adip.faa.gov\/agis\/public\/#\/public\">date of the data that the FAA has on file<\/a> by searching for their airport, and looking at the date next to \u201cLast Info Request Date.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis applies to airports that the FAA is aware of because\nthe owner has previously notified the FAA that the airport exists, and has\nprovided critical information such as runway dimensions,\u201d said Adam Williams,\nAOPA manager of airport policy. \u201cA common example would be if an airport is for\nprivate use only, but the owner still wants the airport to appear on\naeronautical charts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FAA will restore an airport to aeronautical charts once\nthe owner notifies the agency that the information in the database is correct.\nMore than 2,900 airport owners have not provided new data since January 2018,\nhe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Private airport owners can also respond via the Airport Data and Information Portal or by contacting their local <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/about\/office_org\/headquarters_offices\/arp\/regional_offices\/\">FAA regional airports office<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AOPA will send emails to several hundred private airport\nowners who are AOPA members to promote responses, and other aviation\norganizations are also urging their members to participate, Williams said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to update private airport information:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owners of private airports are being asked to update the airport information in the FAA database that predates January 2018.
