The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and the Aircraft Owners and Pilot’s Association (AOPA) applauded Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) for introducing a draft of the \u201cPilot\u2019s Bill of Rights 2,\u201d which addresses unfair practices and regulations toward small aircraft pilots. The bill expands on his initial Pilot\u2019s Bill of Rights that was signed into law back in 2012. <\/p>\n
“The Pilot’s Bill of Rights 2 will continue and expand on the improvements that were accomplished just two years ago with the original Pilot’s Bill of Rights,\u201d Sen. Inhofe said. \u201cInput from the aviation community is essential to addressing the needs of aviators and industry alike. I look forward to working closely with stakeholders to develop a final product and ensure this vital piece of legislation makes necessary reforms, cuts red tape and is signed into law.\u201d

\n\u201cThis legislation would further enhance the pilot and general aviation reforms in the first Pilot\u2019s Bill of Rights, designed to support and grow the ability for people to participate in flying,\u201d said Jack Pelton, EAA chairman of the board. \u201cWe are pleased to have worked with Sen. Inhofe and his staff to identify several key issues that are addressed within this bill, which would ease burdens on average Americans who participate in flying.\u201d<\/p>\n
AOPA President Mark Baker said, \u201cWe can once again thank Senator Inhofe for bringing key general aviation issues before Congress. This new version of the very popular Pilot\u2019s Bill of Rights comes at a time when the GA industry is actively engaged in actions aimed at protecting pilots\u2019 civil liberties and the freedom to fly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Inhofe will host a briefing on the proposed legislation during EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh 2014, which will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, at Forum Pavilion 1 on the AirVenture grounds.<\/p>\n
