The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will hold 12\nVirtual Public Workshops from June 3 to June 12 on the Draft Environmental\nAssessment (EA) for the South-Central Florida Metroplex project, the agency\u2019s\nplan to modernize air traffic procedures for 21 airports in the southern half\nof the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Residents can view the schedule and register to attend a\nvirtual workshop at Community Involvement South Central Florida. During the\nworkshops, the FAA will give an overview of the Draft EA, and environmental and\nair traffic control experts will be available to answer questions. Additional\ninformation about the project, including previous public outreach activities,\nalso is posted on the webpage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On May 11, the agency posted the Draft EA and opened a\n60-day public comment period which ends on July 10. The FAA expects to issue an\nenvironmental determination in September 2020, after it considers and reviews\nall substantive comments received during the comment period. The public can\nreview the Draft EA and submit comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The satellite-based routes proposed for the South-Central\nFlorida Metroplex project will enhance safety and efficiency across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agency conducted the Draft EA in accordance with the\nNational Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), which requires the FAA to\nidentify and publicly disclose the potential environmental impacts of the\nproposed procedures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
