{"id":15543,"date":"2020-05-20T20:51:26","date_gmt":"2020-05-20T20:51:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=15543"},"modified":"2020-05-20T20:51:28","modified_gmt":"2020-05-20T20:51:28","slug":"tim-simon-joins-the-mac-as-new-vp-of-finance-and-revenue-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/minnesota\/tim-simon-joins-the-mac-as-new-vp-of-finance-and-revenue-development\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Tim Simon Joins the MAC as New VP of Finance and Revenue Development"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) welcomes Tim\nSimon as its new Vice President, Finance and Revenue Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"240\" height=\"290\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Tim-Simon.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15544\"\/><figcaption><em>Tim Simon<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTim Simon brings a wealth of government finance and\nstrategic thinking to the Metropolitan Airports Commission,\u201d said MAC CFO Atif\nSaeed. \u201cHis background and expertise will be crucial as the MAC navigates\nrevenue impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, develops strategies for re-energizing\nrevenue streams as the aviation industry recovers and works to retain one of\nthe best financial ratings in the airport industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MAC owns and operates Minneapolis-St. Paul International\n(MSP) and six general aviation airports in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.\nThe organization began 2020 with a $408 million annual operating budget but has\nbeen working to reduce expenses in light of major reductions in key revenue\nstreams, particularly airport parking, ground transportation, auto rental and\nfood and retail concessions. The MAC maintains a AA- rating on senior revenue\nbonds and an A+ on subordinate lien revenue bonds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simon has 20 years of experience in finance and auditing\nroles for governmental organizations. He joins the MAC after serving as the\nchief financial officer at the city of St. Louis Park. Prior to that, Simon was\nthe finance director at the city of Elk River. He also spent five years at the\nMinnesota State Auditor\u2019s Office. In those positions he gained supervisory\nexperience in annual audits, financial statement preparation, cash management\nand investments, capital improvement plans, risk management, financial policies\nand procedures, budgeting, long-range financial management plans, debt\nmanagement, fiscal transparency tools and rate analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the MAC, Simon will oversee the departments of Finance,\nCommercial Management and Airline Affairs, and Risk Management\/Insurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to join the MAC and to work with the highly\nrespected team overseeing one of the nation\u2019s largest airport systems,\u201d said\nSimon. \u201cI also look forward to engaging with customers, partners and\nstakeholders to create a framework for continued financial success in a rapidly\nchanging industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simon is a member of the Government Finance Officers\nAssociation (GFOA) and the Minnesota Government Finance Officers Association\n(MNGFOA).&nbsp; He holds a B.A in accounting\nfrom the College of St. Scholastica and M.B.A. in finance from the University\nof St. Thomas.
