Micheal Bergstrom, R-Adair, would house the program under the Oklahoma\nDepartment of Transportation (ODOT) and would allow for coordination between\nstate government, community leaders and economic developers across the state to\ncreate jobs in the emerging transportation technology industries, including\nemerging ground and aerial transportation technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The possibilities for the Oklahoma Advanced Mobility\nPilot Program and the future technologies it could bring to our state are very\nexciting,&#8221; Bergstrom said. &#8220;It has the possibility to inject dollars\nin our local communities, stimulate the economy and create countless jobs for\ngraduates seeking a career in this progressive field.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bergstrom noted the Oklahoma Advanced Mobility Pilot Program\ncould be used to support and augment other federal transportation pilot programs\ncreated and\/or managed by the United States Department of Transportation\n(USDOT), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Aeronautics and\nSpace Administration (NASA), or the White House, and could include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Autonomous\nvehicles and taxi services in cities<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Drone delivery\nin limited areas<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Unmanned\nground cargo delivery projects<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Federal\nprograms to test electric-powered aircraft<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Drone\nintegration pilot programs; and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Unmanned cargo\ntrucks on closed Oklahoma roads with USDOT<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaker Charles McCall, R-Atoka, is the House author for the\nmeasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The Oklahoma Advanced Mobility Pilot Program has the\npotential to position our state as an emerging leader in cutting-edge\ntechnologies,&#8221; McCall said. &#8220;The aerospace industry is already one of\nOklahoma&#8217;s top economic engines, and further investment in the aeronautics\nindustry could truly put our state on the map as a destination for future\nbusiness and industry in this field.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A measure creating the Oklahoma Advanced Mobility Pilot Program to further state investment in emerging advanced transportation technologies gained approval from the House of Representatives on Tuesday and now moves to Governor Stitt&#8217;s desk for his signature.
