{"id":15436,"date":"2020-05-11T18:57:26","date_gmt":"2020-05-11T18:57:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=15436"},"modified":"2020-05-11T18:57:28","modified_gmt":"2020-05-11T18:57:28","slug":"faa-posts-draft-ea-for-south-central-florida-metroplex","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/florida\/faa-posts-draft-ea-for-south-central-florida-metroplex\/%20","title":{"rendered":"FAA Posts Draft EA for South-Central Florida Metroplex"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has posted the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metroplexenvironmental.com\/fl_metroplex\/fl_introduction.html\">Draft Environmental Assessment<\/a> (EA) for the South-Central Florida Metroplex project, the agency\u2019s plan to modernize air traffic procedures for four major air carrier airports and 17 additional airports in the southern half of the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 60-day public comment period for the Draft EA begins today\nand ends on July 10, 2020. The agency expects to issue an environmental\ndetermination in September 2020, after it considers and reviews all substantive\ncomments received during the comment period. The public can review the Draft EA\nand submit comments on this page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FAA will hold 12 virtual public workshops on the Draft EA during the first two weeks of June. Residents can view the schedule and register to attend a virtual workshop at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/air_traffic\/community_involvement\/florida\/\">Community Involvement South Central Florida<\/a>. During the workshops, the FAA will provide an overview of the Draft EA, and environmental and air traffic control experts will be available to answer questions. Additional information about the project, including previous public outreach activities, also is posted on the webpage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of the procedures for South-Central Florida are based\non outdated technology. While safe, these older procedures are less precise and\nefficient than those based on satellite technology.
