{"id":15240,"date":"2020-04-20T21:28:56","date_gmt":"2020-04-20T21:28:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=15240"},"modified":"2020-04-20T21:28:57","modified_gmt":"2020-04-20T21:28:57","slug":"nbaas-hero-program-partners-with-leading-hospitals-on-covid-19-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/nbaas-hero-program-partners-with-leading-hospitals-on-covid-19-support\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA\u2019s HERO Program Partners with Leading Hospitals on COVID-19 Support"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) unveiled a\nfirst-of-its-kind partnership to pair the assets available through the\nassociation\u2019s Humanitarian Emergency Response Operator (HERO) database with the\nCOVID-19-coordination capabilities of the American Hospital Association (AHA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen said, \u201cBusiness aviation is\nuniquely positioned to provide assistance to the citizens, companies and\ncommunities grappling with the COVID-19 crisis. Our HERO database will connect\nsupplies and services with hospitals across the country, including those in\nsmall towns and rural communities. We thank the American Hospital Association\nfor coordinating with us, to ensure we reach the people most in need.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs the women and men in America\u2019s hospitals and health\nsystems heroically fight COVID-19 on behalf of their patients and communities,\nthe hospital field is exploring all options to increase production and\ndistribution of much needed personal protective equipment,\u201d said Michelle Hood,\nAHA executive vice president and chief operating officer. \u201cThrough this unique\npartnership with NBAA, we will be able to further these efforts to keep our\nhealth care professionals safe and protected as they deliver care on the front\nlines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In operation since 2005, the NBAA HERO database aggregates\ndata about the people, aircraft and other resources available for\ndisaster-response mobilization efforts. The HERO database was instrumental in\nrelief efforts for the 2010 Haiti earthquake; Hurricanes Dorian, Michael and\nFlorence; Superstorm Sandy and other crises. The Department of Homeland\nSecurity, Federal Emergency Management Agency and Red Cross have worked with\nNBAA to coordinate HERO database assets, as have a host of aviation\nhumanitarian relief groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For questions from humanitarian organizations and\nindividuals regarding the HERO database, contact NBAA at hero@nbaa.org.
