Collier Trophy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For 108 years, the Collier Trophy has been the benchmark of\naerospace achievement. Awarded annually &#8220;&#8230; for the greatest achievement\nin aeronautics or astronautics in America,&#8221; it has been bestowed upon some\nof the most important projects, programs, individuals, and accomplishments in\nhistory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Collier-Trophy-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15158\" width=\"257\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Collier-Trophy-1.jpg 468w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Collier-Trophy-1-234x300.jpg 234w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 257px) 100vw, 257px\" \/><figcaption><em> The Robert J. Collier Trophy <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Past winners include the crews of Apollo 11 and Apollo 8,\nthe Mercury 7, Scott Crossfield, Elmer Sperry, Howard Hughes, and Orville Wright.\nProjects and programs which have been the recipient of the Collier include the\nB-52, the Boeing 747, the Cessna Citation, the F-22, and the International\nSpace Station. The five most recent recipients of the Collier Trophy are the\nAutomatic Ground Collision Avoidance System Team; the Cirrus Aircraft Vision\nJet; the Blue Origin New Shepard Team; the NASA\/JPL Dawn Mission Team; and the\nGulfstream G650. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2019 Nominees are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Airborne Collision Avoidance System Team <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bombardier Global 7500 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gulfstream G500 and G600 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hubble Space Telescope Team <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>magni500 Electric Propulsion System <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Project Heaviside <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stratolaunch Carrier Aircraft <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The USAF-Boeing X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle Team <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unmanned Aircraft Systems Traffic Management Team <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;For more than a century, the Collier Trophy has\nrecognized the greatest achievements in aeronautics and astronautics,&#8221;\nsaid NAA President Greg Principato. &#8220;Some of history&#8217;s greatest\ntechnological feats have received the Collier. The nominees this year are very\nmuch in that tradition, spanning aeronautics and astronautics and including\nmany new technologies and approaches to solving problems.
