{"id":15115,"date":"2020-03-24T11:38:12","date_gmt":"2020-03-24T11:38:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=15115"},"modified":"2020-03-24T11:38:13","modified_gmt":"2020-03-24T11:38:13","slug":"nbaa-other-aviation-groups-join-in-combating-covid-19-spread","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/district-of-columbia\/nbaa-other-aviation-groups-join-in-combating-covid-19-spread\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA, Other Aviation Groups Join in Combating COVID-19 Spread"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With the United States facing unprecedented challenges\nfrom the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the National Business Aviation\nAssociation (NBAA) has joined forces with four other aviation groups to inform\nlawmakers the nation\u2019s general aviation (GA) industry, including business\naviation, is prepared to assist as needed to respond to the crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs our nation works to respond to the threat of the\ncoronavirus, we wanted to make ourselves available to assist in any way\npossible,\u201d reads the associations\u2019 letter to Elaine Chao, secretary of the U.S.\nDepartment of Transportation. \u201cWe stand ready to work with the administration\nso that the important role our industry can play in responding and mitigating\nthe many challenges of this health issue is fully realized.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The groups further note the diversity of the nation\u2019s GA\nand business aircraft fleet, the industry\u2019s ability to operate from more than\n5,000 GA airports across the country and its extensive experience with\nresponding to humanitarian crises, from transporting time-sensitive supplies,\nmedical specimens and equipment, to flying critical care patients and medical\npersonnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read the <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/advocacy\/letters\/20200316-GA-Letter-to-DOT-Chao-Coronavirus.pdf \">full letter<\/a> (PDF).\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/advocacy\/letters\/20200316-GA-Letter-to-DOT-Chao-Coronavirus.pdf\">h<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBusiness aviation has always been at the forefront of\nrelief efforts in times of need and to assist citizens and communities in their\nmost challenging times,\u201d added NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. \u201cJust as we\u2019ve\njoined together as a nation to face this challenging and evolving situation, I\nknow that our industry is prepared and eager to provide whatever assistance we\ncan to fight the spread of COVID-19.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to NBAA, the letter was signed by the\nAircraft Owners and Pilots Association;
