Kaufmann has been with GMU for more than 10 years, where\nher duties include planning, organizing and overseeing the airport\u2019s community\noutreach efforts. She also assists the Airport Director with the overall major\nfunctions of the airport, which include economic development and day-to-day\noperations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLara is a valuable addition to the South Carolina\nAeronautics Commission,\u201d said Commission Executive Director James Stephens.\n\u201cHer industry knowledge combined with the relationships she has built over the\npast decade position her to continue aviation development, safety and education\nin District 4.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kaufmann\u2019s vision helped create Runway Park and Runway\nCafe, and she has been instrumental in the progress of the Military History\nCenter of the Carolinas\u2019 Museum. Kaufmann developed the airport field trip\ncurriculum. She also helped launch the annual Take Flight 5K, a unique footrace\non the runway at GMU. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLara\u2019s achievements at Greenville Downtown Airport will\nbenefit her as she works with public use airports across the District,\u201d said\nGMU Airport Director Joe Frasher. \u201cI\u2019m proud of her appointment as the first\nfemale Commissioner, and I know her vision and energy will greatly benefit the\nstate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to her work at GMU, Kaufmann is a member of\nGreenville Technical College\u2019s Aircraft Maintenance Technology Advisory\nCommittee and a lifetime member of South Carolina Aviation Association.
