Nagel started his airport career in\n1984 in Columbus, Ohio cleaning airplanes for the FBO.&nbsp; Every night he had to wax a 727 and a 737 for\nPeoples Express.&nbsp; He also has airline\nexperience at Piedmont Airlines. Nagel\u2019s airport management career started at\nCherry Capital Airport in Traverse City, Michigan.&nbsp; He has spent the last 18 years at MBS\nInternational.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nagel, who has\na BS degree in Aviation Management from Florida Tech, stated his proudest\naccomplishments at MBS are: \u201cI\u2019m most proud of the projects we completed as a\nteam at MBS.&nbsp; As you know, major projects\non airports are not individual accomplishments but rather a product of a team\nall moving towards the same goal.&nbsp;\nWhether it was the development of the new terminal or a major airfield\nproject, we always had strong buy-in from employees and tenants and I think\nthat goes a long way to having those projects completed successfully.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During summer\nmonths Nagel plans to stay in the area. \u201cWe have family in Michigan including\nboth of our daughters.&nbsp; I\u2019m looking\nforward to spending more time visiting them.\u201d&nbsp;\nOnce the winter weather starts, Nagel said they\u2019ll be looking at heading\nsouth somewhere, although the final destination is not yet determined. \u201cBetween\nmy time at TVC and MBS, I\u2019ve had enough snow to last me for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nagel has\nspent more than 30 years in Michigan aviation and has met a lot of people along\nwith the way.&nbsp; \u201cI was fortunate to work\nfor two outstanding managers and learned a great deal from both of them,\u201d said\nNagel.&nbsp; \u201cAs I move into the next chapter\nof my life, I realize I\u2019ll miss the friends I\u2019ve made the most.&nbsp; Aviation is a dynamic industry and I consider\nmyself lucky to have been a part of it for so long.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Airport\ncommission has appointed an airport Personnel Committee to lead the search for\na replacement and will be advertising very soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Kenn Potts Jeff Nagel, the Airport Manager at MBS International Airport in Freeland, Michigan has announced he is retiring on June 24, 2020.
