The top 130 airports, ranked by passenger totals, were\nsurveyed, and research of publicly available information was compiled to\nestimate the amount of investment required to meet project demands. The study\nalso provides observations regarding the data and research compiled regarding\nthe changing landscape of capital improvements at airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are pleased to present this new study which\nprovides an estimate of capital investment needs at the nation\u2019s airports of\napproximately $138 billion over the next five years, &#8221; said ACC President\nT.J. Schulz. &#8220;This study highlights the significant amount of capital\nrequired to enhance, grow, and maintain our nation\u2019s airports \u2013 reinforcing\nairports\u2019 vital role in the nation\u2019s economy.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ACC appointed InterVISTAS Consulting, an aviation\nconsultancy, to prepare the study. In addition to the study which can be found\nat the ACC website, ACC provides for its members an interactive database which\nenables users to analyze, sort, and visualize the magnitude and type of\ninvestment for many of the nations\u2019 largest airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;With this research, ACC members and those involved in\nthe U.S. airport industry have access to data and insights that can inform\nbusiness decisions in this dynamic industry,&#8221; said Brian Mohr, an airport\nconsultant at InterVISTAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the key findings of the report are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Terminal projects represent the largest share of\ncapital investments \u2013 with about 50% of total investment dedicated to such\nimprovements<\/li><li>Climate change mitigation is increasingly a\nfocus of improvement planning \u2013 airports are moving beyond traditional\nsustainability considerations and investing in mitigation measures to ensure\ninfrastructure resiliency<\/li><li>Customer experience is a central focus of\nairport strategy \u2013 the competition for passengers continues, as well as the\nimperative to diversify airport revenues, driving increased focus on innovation\nand customer<\/li><li>Sustained airline profitability \u2013 supports\nconfidence by lenders, airlines and airports to invest in growing markets.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To download a copy of the report, please visit the ACC website by clicking <a href=\"https:\/\/acconline.org\/ACC\/Resources\/Industry_Report\/ACC\/Resources\/Industry_Report\/Industry_Report_Overview.aspx?hkey=1c1774c3-01ec-46a8-bc4b-49bb976ef3b7\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Airport Consultants Council (ACC) has released Capital Development at U.S. Airports, a study providing a near term outlook of trends, projects, and funding.
