The two organizations will explore\nways to cooperate in developing standards and solutions for their members and\nother stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/RTCA-MOU-2-1024x905.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14918\" width=\"261\" height=\"230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/RTCA-MOU-2-1024x905.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/RTCA-MOU-2-300x265.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/RTCA-MOU-2.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 261px) 100vw, 261px\" \/><figcaption><em>Terry McVenes, left and Brian Meincke.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;For decades, both of our organizations have helped\nbuild a strong technical foundation for the global aerospace and aviation\nindustry.&#8221; said Brian Meincke, Vice President Finance, Business\nDevelopment and Innovation for ASTM International. &#8220;We are thrilled to be\nworking more closely together to avoid duplication and support technical\ncooperation at this key moment in standardization when so many emerging technologies\nare beginning to take flight.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This strategic partnership with ASTM International\nwill bring tremendous value to aviation, especially new entrants to the\nindustry, who will benefit from greater collaboration and alignment between our\nrespective technical committees,&#8221; added Terry McVenes, President and CEO\nof RTCA. &#8220;Leveraging our collective strengths will also make our standards\nsupportive of our goal for international harmonization and global\ninteroperability.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MOU mentions several areas for potential cooperation on\nstandardization, including: traffic management for unmanned aircraft systems\n(drones), urban air mobility, detect-and-avoid systems, ground-based radars for\ndrones, and cybersecurity.
