Department of Transportation\u2019s Division of Aviation\nannounced today the winners of this year\u2019s Aviation Art Contest, an annual\ncompetition among students across North Carolina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NCDOT received more than 2,400 entries carrying this year\u2019s\ncontest theme \u201cFlying Yesterday and Tomorrow.\u201d After weeks of judging and\nvoting, the winners were announced in the following three age groups: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Junior (born 2010-2013):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/1st-Place-Junior.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14883\" width=\"201\" height=\"280\"\/><figcaption><em>1st Place &#8211; Junior Category<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>1st: Beckman Case Clawson, of McAdenville, Ida Rankin\nElementary<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2nd: Michelle Selin Park, of Fayetteville, Berean Baptist\nAcademy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3rd: Bria Louise Ma, of Fayetteville, E. Melvin Honeycutt\nElementary<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Intermediate (born 2006-2009):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1st: Daniel Kim, of Cary, Carnage Middle<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2nd: Sofia Sande-Fernandez, of Cary, Alston Ridge Middle<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3rd: Summerlin Ward, of Tar Heel, Emereau Bladen Charter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Senior (born 2002-2005):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1st: Cassidy English, of Lillington, Harnett Central High<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2nd: Kailyn Becker, of Apex, Apex Friendship High<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3rd: Hyunmin Ra, of Fayetteville, Berean Baptist Academy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first time, certain winners will have their artwork displayed at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh. The winning art can also be viewed on the Division of Aviation\u2019s Facebook Page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2nd-Place-Senioredit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14884\" width=\"291\" height=\"211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2nd-Place-Senioredit.jpg 700w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2nd-Place-Senioredit-300x218.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 291px) 100vw, 291px\" \/><figcaption><em>2nd Place Senior Category<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The winners were selected after two weeks of voting by local\nart teachers, aviation experts and employees with NCDOT\u2019s Division of Aviation.\nThe artwork was judged on creativity, adherence to the theme and technical\nquality. In addition to cash prizes for the winners and their schools, the top\nthree students in each age division will have their artwork submitted to the\nNational Aviation Art Contest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s near-record 2,420 entries came from 219 schools and 77 counties.
