Agency staff presented and explained the fundamentals\nof aviation, including educational presentations, as well as hands-on\ndemonstrations for the students and adult chaperones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"133\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_7795.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14837\"\/><figcaption> <em>Jeff Taylor, right, explains aviation mechanics. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Betty Wilson, public relations manager for DOAV, kicked off\nthe event with opening remarks and a brief overview of the agency. The students\nwere then broken into groups to visit four stations that showcased different\naspects of aviation. Ms. Wilson\u2019s station focused on science and had\ndemonstrations about aerodynamics, water pressure and air pressers as well as\nan aeronautical chart to explain flight planning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A drone station was staffed by Alton Jordan an engineer with\nDOAV, who also has a part 107 license. He gave demonstration flights and helped\nshow the students the fundamentals of flight. Jordan also gave a presentation on\nairports and engineering careers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_7824.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14838\" width=\"173\" height=\"115\"\/><figcaption><em>Betty Wilson, seated at right, teaches the students about air pressure. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>DOAV\u2019s Jeff Taylor staffed an aviation mechanic station\nwhere he showed the students the agency\u2019s 182 engine and the work that was\ncurrently being done to the aircraft. Staff members David Cronk and Eddie\nBlanco showed off the agency\u2019s Cessna 206 at the airplane station and allowed\nthe students to get inside the plane and see how the flight controls work.
