The donation, which was made through the Australian diplomacy program\nG\u2019Day USA, will benefit the Australia chapter of the Red Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"214\" height=\"142\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Aircraft-Exterior-AA-Aircraft-Tail-Terminal-IIedit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14674\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are all affected by the heartbreaking images of the\nwildfires in Australia,\u201d said American Airlines President Robert Isom.\n\u201cAmerican is proud to do what we can to assist in the recovery.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, G\u2019Day USA brought awareness and raised funds\nto assist with the Australian bush fires. The event is typically a celebratory\ndinner that honors the special relationship between Australia and the United\nStates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>American also activated the airline\u2019s disaster response\nfundraising platform, where customers and team members can assist those in\nneed. From now through Jan. 31, AAdvantage\u00ae members can earn 10 miles for every\ndollar donated to the Red Cross with a minimum $25 donation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne of the best things Americans can do to support our\nfriends in Australia is keep their travel plans and make new ones,\u201d Isom said.\n\u201cThe Australian economy relies on its tourism business and nearly all the\npopular sites in Australia are unaffected by the fires.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can make your donation to the Australian bush fire\nrecovery efforts by visiting the Red Cross website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>American Airlines donated $100,000 to help Australia recover from devastating bush fires that have burned more than 27 million acres to date.
