McCaw,\nGen. Edward A. Rice, Jr. (USAF Ret.), and Bianca Rhodes have joined The Dee\nHoward Foundation Board of Directors and that Gen. Rice, Bianca Rhodes, and\nRichard M. Francey, Jr. (Vice President, San Antonio Operations, GDC Technics)\nhave been appointed to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Bruce-R.-McCaw.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14624\" width=\"343\" height=\"228\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Bruce-R.-McCaw.jpg 643w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Bruce-R.-McCaw-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 343px) 100vw, 343px\" \/><figcaption><em>Bruce R. McCaw<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Bruce R. McCaw is currently Chairman of Seattle Hotel Group,\nco-chair of Apex Foundation and Chairman Emeritus of Pistol Creek Company. He\nwas a co-founder and director of McCaw Cellular Communications, Inc. and\nClaircom Communications; co-founder, VP and Director of Horizon Air; Chairman\nand founder of Forbes Westar, Inc.; and former director of Alaska Air Group and\nChampionship Auto Racing Teams (CART). He was also a Partner and Director of\nUniversal Space Lines, Universal Space Network, and Rocket Development Company\nwith Charles \u201cPete\u201d Conrad Jr., pioneering reusable spacecraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McCaw serves in various other capacities for several\ncharitable foundations, including the aforementioned Apex Foundation, Founding\nDirector and current board member of Behind the Badge Foundation, the Seattle\nOpera, the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation, and Trustee Emeritus of the\nNational Air and Space Museum. Formerly he was Co-Chair of Talaris Research\nInstitute as well as former trustee of Washington State University foundation,\nSt. Thomas and Lakeside schools where he was honored with the Distinguished\nService Award in 2008. Bruce McCaw has been a volunteer at the Museum of Flight\nsince 1979, a Trustee since 1985, a member of the Executive Committee for more\nthan 30 years and was Chairman in 2003 and 2004. He is a member of Quiet\nBirdmen, the Wings Club, NAA and NBAA. He has also been a pilot for more than\n50 years, holding commercial and instrument ratings and is type rated in the\nLear Jet 35, Falcon 50\/900, and Fokker F27. In 1988 Bruce, along with Museum of\nFlight Trustees, Clay Lacy and Joe Clark, organized Friendship One; would set\nthe around the world record in a Boeing 747 SP with a record at 36 hours, 54\nminutes, and 15 seconds, raising over $500,000 for children\u2019s charities. This\nrecord still stands for aircraft over 300,000kg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McCaw attended the University of Washington and Colorado\nCollege, where he received the Doctor of Humane Letters Degree in 2015. In\n2004, Bruce and his family received Seattle\u2019s First Citizens Award. In 2005 he\nwas inducted into the Living Legends of Aviation, and in 2007, he was awarded\nthe Washington Policy Center Stanley O. McNaughton Champion of Freedom\nAward.&nbsp; In that same year, the Apex\nFoundation was recognized with Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation of the year\naward from the Northwest Chapter of the National Association of Fundraising\nProfessionals. Bruce was also awarded the Woodrow Wilson Award and the Behind\nthe Badge Law Enforcement Citizen of the Year Award in 2009. In 2013, Bruce\nreceived the Pathfinder Award, and in 2017, the Red Barn Heritage Award which\nrecognizes a significant and exceptional commitment to The Museum of Flight and\nthe Seattle Community. In 2019 he was inducted into the Northwest Motorsport\u2019s\nhall of fame at the World of Speed in Oregon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Ed-Rice.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14625\" width=\"183\" height=\"274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Ed-Rice.jpg 427w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Ed-Rice-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 183px) 100vw, 183px\" \/><figcaption><em>Ed Rice<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Ed Rice retired at the rank of general from the U.S. Air\nForce on December 1, 2013. Prior to retirement Rice served as the Commander of\nAir Education and Training Command where he was responsible for recruiting,\ntraining, and educating Air Force personnel.&nbsp;\nFrom February 2008 to October 2010, Rice served as the senior U.S.\nmilitary commander in Japan, where he worked closely with other military\ncommanders and our embassy team to think through the strategic challenges and\nopportunities associated with our most important ally in the Asia-Pacific\nregion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rice holds a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering\nsciences from the U.S. Air Force Academy; a Master of Science degree in\naeronautical science and technology from Embry-Riddle University; a Master of\nScience degree in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War\nCollege; and he completed a National Security Fellowship at the John F. Kennedy\nSchool of Government, Harvard University and a White House Fellowship at the\nU.S. Department of Health and Human Services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rice is currently a private consultant and serves as the\nChairman of the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors and as an\nadvisor\/trustee of numerous other local and national boards. A partial list of\nGen. Rice&#8217;s public service includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Serving on the Executive Committee of the Board\nof Trustees for the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County. <\/li><li>Serving on the Military Advisory Board of the\nGeneral Electric Veterans Network.&nbsp;\nProvided guidance and advice to G.E. senior leadership on how to\nmeaningfully address the needs of veterans and advance the role of veterans\nwithin the company.<\/li><li>National Medal of Honor Heritage Foundation\nAdvisory Board Member (purpose of the Foundation is to build a Medal of Honor\nHeritage Center to house the Medal of Honor Museum, the Medal of Honor Society\nofficers, and the Medal of Honor Heritage Foundation).<\/li><li>Appointed by the Mayor of San Antonio to the\nAirport Systems Development Committee whose purpose is to evaluate the capacity\nof San Antonio International Airport and other local airports to accommodate\nthe region\u2019s growth and long-term air service needs (next 50 years). <\/li><li>Board member for the UP Partnership whose\npurpose is to ensure all young people in San Antonio are ready for the future\nthrough data coordination, organizational alignment and policy change.<\/li><li>Voting Trustee of the San Antonio Medical\nFoundation whose mission is to provide leadership and active stewardship of\nland and other assets to improve health care, advance biomedical science and\nenhance community well-being. Military Advisor to the government of Taiwan. <\/li><li>Appointed by President Obama and reappointed by\nPresident Trump to the USAFA Board of Visitors.&nbsp;\nThe Board inquires into the morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction,\nphysical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods and other matters relating\nto the Academy.&nbsp; The Board is comprised\nof six Presidential appointees and nine members of congress. General Rice is\nchairman of the board.<\/li><li>Governing Trustee of the Falcon Foundation whose\npurpose is to further the opportunity for highly motivated, exceptional, young\nmen and women to attend the USAFA.<\/li><li>Selected as a 2020 United States Air Force\nAcademy distinguished graduate.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Bianca-Rhodes-1024x782.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14626\" width=\"323\" height=\"246\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Bianca-Rhodes-1024x782.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Bianca-Rhodes-300x229.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Bianca-Rhodes.jpg 1153w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 323px) 100vw, 323px\" \/><figcaption><em>Bianca Rhodes<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Bianca Rhodes graduated from UT-Austin with a BBA in Finance\nin 1981. Rhodes\u2019 career started in banking which led to positions with two\npublic companies as their Chief Financial Officer: Intelogic Trace, (NYSE:IT)\nand Kinetic Concepts Inc. (NASDQ: KNCI). As KCI\u2019s CFO, she engineered a\nturnaround which enabled its private offering just three years later, at a\nvaluation of approximately $1 billion. Rhodes then founded CrossRhodes\nConsulting, specializing in raising capital and structuring buyouts for dozens\nof companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2014, Rhodes has served as the President and CEO of\nKnight Aerospace which specializes in roll-on, roll-off medical and VIP\nmodules, palletized systems, and ground support equipment sold to over 25\ncountries throughout the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her career includes numerous voluntary positions including\nthe founding of Any Woman Can, and Board positions with AirLife San Antonio,\nJunior Achievement of South Texas, Big Brothers and Sisters of San Antonio,\nBaptist Healthcare Systems, San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind, and the San\nAntonio Greater Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rhodes also serves on the Board of Directors of Dura\nSoftware, Inc, the Hyper-Niche Software Company based in San Antonio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2020 Class will be inducted into the San Antonio\nAviation and Aerospace Hall of Fame at the Awards Ceremony and Dinner to be\nhosted by DHF Board Member GDC Technics at its state of the art Hangar at Port\nSan Antonio on 26 March 2020.&nbsp;&nbsp; The 2020\nHall of Fame will feature a reception with entertainment provided by the\nSouthwest High School Mariachi Band, dinner with the presentation of the Colors\nby the 433rd Airlift Wing Color Guard and the singing of the National Anthem by\nLt.Col. Kat Strus,D.M.(USAF Ret.), induction of 2020 Honorees, a special award\nceremony honoring the members of the 4th Allied P.O.W. Wing, the presentation\nof the third annual DHF STEM Education Excellence Award (SEEA), and a display\nof current and vintage US Military and civilian aircraft.
