{"id":14560,"date":"2020-01-09T19:11:22","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T19:11:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=14560"},"modified":"2020-01-09T19:11:24","modified_gmt":"2020-01-09T19:11:24","slug":"dan-harmon-appointed-as-texas-aviation-division-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/texas\/dan-harmon-appointed-as-texas-aviation-division-director\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Dan Harmon Appointed as Texas Aviation Division Director"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Texas Department of Transportation has announced the\nappointment of Daniel \u201cDan\u201d Harmon as the new Aviation Division Director,\neffective December 2, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Dan-Harmon-Pic.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14561\" width=\"188\" height=\"235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Dan-Harmon-Pic.jpg 315w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Dan-Harmon-Pic-240x300.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 188px) 100vw, 188px\" \/><figcaption><em>Dan Harmon<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Harmon has been with the department since August 2013,\nduring which time he has served as Maritime Division (MRD) Director. In his new\nrole, he will oversee planning and funding for the nearly 300 reliever and\ngeneral aviation airports throughout the state. Harmon will work closely with\nthe aviation community and TxDOT\u2019s Aviation Advisory Committee to ensure safe\nand continuous improvement of Texas\u2019 airport system.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of his responsibilities Harmon will also oversee\noperations of Flight Services and the maintenance of state-owned aircraft; as\nwell as the department\u2019s UAS operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to joining TxDOT, he served as the Director of\nFacilities for the Texas Department of Public Safety.&nbsp;&nbsp; As a U.S. Navy veteran, Dan served on active\nduty for over 22 years as a maritime patrol and reconnaissance pilot flying the\nP-3 Orion.&nbsp; He holds a bachelor\u2019s degree\nin government from the University of Texas and a master\u2019s degree in business\nadministration from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, where he graduated with\nhonors.&nbsp; He also graduated from the U.S.\nNavy Aviation Safety School and holds certifications in financial management,\ntest and evaluation, and program management from the Department of Defense.&nbsp; Dan has been a military instructor and\nstandardization pilot, and holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot rating.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Texas Department of Transportation has announced the appointment of Daniel \u201cDan\u201d Harmon as the new Aviation Division Director, effective December 2, 2019.
