He has been Canada&#8217;s nominee to the Air Navigation\nCommission since 2014. Prior to his assignment at ICAO, Captain Hurley worked\nin Transport Canada&#8217;s Civil Aviation directorate, providing oversight of air\noperators, flight training units and aerodromes. As a pilot with over 30 years\nof experience, he has worked in a variety of international settings. He also\nserved as an officer and pilot in the Canadian Armed Forces, where he participated\nin flight operations for peacekeeping missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As a founding member and leading contributor to ICAO,\nCanada has been the proud host state since 1947, and is fully committed to\nICAO&#8217;s success, said Minister Garneau. \u201cWe value the important role ICAO plays\nin coordinating the global response to new opportunities and challenges in\ncivil aviation, and we welcome every opportunity to make a contribution.
