Along with\nthe Airport\u2019s existing 7,002-foot by 150-foot primary runway, the second runway\nwill significantly enhance safety by separating smaller planes from larger\ncorporate aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"169\" height=\"169\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Scott-Gray-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14515\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Scott-Gray-2.jpg 169w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Scott-Gray-2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Scott-Gray-2-60x60.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 169px) 100vw, 169px\" \/><figcaption>Scott Gray<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe new runway is a significant accomplishment that will\nincrease our overall operational capacity into the foreseeable future, as well\nas enhance our efficiency and reduce operating delays,\u201d said Airport Manager\nScott Gray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Construction of the west parallel runway began in November\n2018. The $6.3 million project was completed in November 2019, with Mayor Chris\nWatts aboard for the first takeoff and landing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Texas Department\nof Transportation (TxDOT) lighting project is scheduled to begin in spring 2020\nand be completed in the summer. In addition to lighting for the new runway,\nsignage will be replaced on the existing runway. After the project, Denton\nEnterprise Airport will have two full-service, all-weather runways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Denton Enterprise Airport is the eighth busiest airport in\nthe State of Texas, facilitating approximately 140,000 takeoffs and landings\neach year.
