{"id":14467,"date":"2019-12-16T23:55:27","date_gmt":"2019-12-16T23:55:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=14467"},"modified":"2019-12-16T23:55:29","modified_gmt":"2019-12-16T23:55:29","slug":"nbaa-welcomes-fraser-precourt-to-association-board-of-directors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/nbaa-welcomes-fraser-precourt-to-association-board-of-directors\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA Welcomes Fraser, Precourt to Association Board of Directors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has announced\nthe addition of Kate Fraser and Charlie Precourt to the association\u2019s Board of\nDirectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNBAA is honored to have the diversity of experience and\nknowledge that Kate and Charlie bring to our board, which will help inform and\nenhance NBAA\u2019s programs and operations,\u201d said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen.\n\u201cAs both an aviation young professional (YoPro) and an urban air mobility (UAM)\npioneer, Kate brings fresh ideas and future vision to our organization.\nCharlie, as a propulsion expert and former astronaut, brings to NBAA deep\naviation systems and aerospace experience. We welcome them both to our board\nand look forward to their contributions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fraser is head of safety for Joby Aviation, a\nCalifornia-based company that is a pioneer in the development of novel aircraft\nenabled by electric propulsion. Joby also has been working on an aircraft that\nwould enable a vertiport-based transportation service that saves people an hour\na day in their day-to-day travel, with zero emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before joining Joby, Fraser was Uber\u2019s head of aviation\npolicy, working with regulators and policymakers worldwide to make urban air\nmobility a reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously, Fraser spent three years with the FAA\u2019s Office\nof Accident Investigation and Prevention, collaborating with industry partners\nto reduce the fatal accident rate. There, she represented the U.S. and the\nCommercial Aviation Safety Team (CAST) in Europe and South America, and was\nprogram manager of the General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (GAJSC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A commercial pilot and certified flight instructor, Fraser\nholds a bachelor\u2019s degree in aeronautical technology from Kansas State University,\nand a master of human factors in aerospace from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical\nUniversity. In 2019, she was honored as one of the NBAA\u2019s Business Aviation Top\n40 Under 40 recipients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Precourt is the vice president and general manager of the\nPropulsion Systems Division at Orbital ATK. A veteran of four space flights and\nmember of the Astronaut Hall of Fame, Precourt held several management\npositions within the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA),\nincluding deputy program manager for the International Space Station, chief of\nthe Astronaut Corps and director of operations for NASA at the Gagarin\nCosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The veteran aviator and astronaut retired as an Air Force\ncolonel in 2000. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, with a degree\nin aeronautical engineering. Precourt was an F-15 pilot, instructor, and flight\ncommander, and a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School.
