The 2020 group, which\nwill begin in late July, will be the second apprenticeship class to begin at\nPiper Aircraft&#8217;s world headquarters in Vero Beach, FL. The two-year program\nincludes a combination of on-the-job training as well as classroom instruction\ndesigned to qualify the participants as a Journeyman in Aircraft Assembly. Each\napprentice is a paid employee of Piper Aircraft and receives a full benefits\npackage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The accredited apprenticeship program which is conducted in\ncooperation with Indian River State College, began in August 2019 and was created\nin response to the increasing demand for high quality manufacturing candidates\nat Piper Aircraft. The first nine apprentices are currently completing their\nfirst semester of the program and are continuing to shadow skilled aircraft\nassembly workers and learn all aspects of fabrication and assembly of aircraft\nduring the two-year initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Piper Aircraft will be hosting an informational session for\nprospective apprentices (parents \/ guardians and significant others welcome) on\nWednesday, January 15, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the Piper Aircraft factory in Vero\nBeach. The session will include a brief presentation, the opportunity to meet\nwith current apprentices as well as program coordinators. Additionally,\nguidance will be provided on the application process and timing.
