The theme for International Civil Aviation Day in 2019 is 75\nYears of Connecting the World. \u201cAs we mark ICAO’s historic 75th anniversary, we\ncan look back at some of our joint achievements this year,\u201d said Canada\u2019s Honorable\nMarc Garneau, Minister of Transport, when he recognized the special day on\nDecember 7th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As Canada’s Minister of Transport, it is my pleasure\nto mark International Civil Aviation Day. International civil aviation brings\npeople together from all corners of the globe. Today, we celebrate our strong\ncollaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and our\nother global aviation partners,\u201d said Minister Garneau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

International Civil Aviation Day was established in 1994, as\na part of ICAO’s 50th anniversary, to promote the global socio-economic\nbenefits of international civil aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As a founding member and leading contributor to ICAO,\nCanada has been the proud host country for more than seven decades, and we are\nfully committed to its success. We value our longstanding relationship with\nICAO and are honored to host it in Montreal, the world’s civil aviation\ncapital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This fall, Canada hosted the 40th Session of the ICAO\nAssembly in Montr\u00e9al, Qu\u00e9bec, welcoming over 2,400 delegates to define ICAO\npriorities for the next three years in support of safe, secure, efficient, and\nenvironmentally sustainable growth in global aviation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs part of ICAO’s Next Generation of Aviation Professionals\ninitiative, we have also been working with Canadian aviation industry members\nto address the aviation labor shortage, and are working with under-represented\ngroups and Indigenous communities to promote careers in aviation,\u201d said\nMinister Garneau. “As we approach a new decade in 2020, we will continue\nworking closely and innovatively with our global aviation partners to advance\ncivil aviation in Canada and around the world.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
