The commission previously approved the work on that plan, many\nstakeholders participated in its development, and the commission discussed its\ncontents at a February 2018 workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Neighbors have known the city\u2019s airport by a variety of\nnames over the years \u2013 the Battle Creek Airport officially opened in 1925, and\nother names include Battle Creek-Kellogg Municipal Airport and Kellogg\nAirfield. Neighbors most recently knew the airport as W.K. Kellogg Airport;\nKellogg\u2019s name first was added to the airport\u2019s in 1928, when he donated\n$60,000 to purchase the land option and pay for airport improvements and\nequipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the new branding plan for the airport,\nstakeholders considered new names with the help of R.A. Weidemann &amp;\nAssociates Inc., an aviation consultant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new name \u2013 Battle Creek Executive Airport at Kellogg\nField \u2013 indicates the primary, business aviation function of the airport, with\nthe word \u201cExecutive.\u201d Those involved in the planning also worked to bring the\n\u201cBattle Creek\u201d geographic location back to the airport\u2019s name, and included\n\u201cKellogg Field\u201d to recognize the airport\u2019s heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe new name represents the perfect culmination of our rich\nheritage, and our identity as a large, general aviation airport that serves a\nunique business aviation niche,\u201d said Airport Director Larry Bowron. \u201cThe\ncity\u2019s airport plays an important role in the national general aviation sector,\nand the new name will provide greater exposure, not only to the airport, but to\nthe City of Battle Creek.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stay tuned as the airport begins the transition to Battle\nCreek Executive Airport at Kellogg Field, complete with new logos, signs, an\nimproved online presence, and more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the City of Battle Creek\u2019s airport celebrates 95 years of operation this year, its new name is Battle Creek Executive Airport at Kellogg Field.
