{"id":14356,"date":"2019-12-03T12:26:47","date_gmt":"2019-12-03T12:26:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=14356"},"modified":"2019-12-03T12:26:48","modified_gmt":"2019-12-03T12:26:48","slug":"sling-pilot-academy-awards-2019-20k-scholarship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/california\/sling-pilot-academy-awards-2019-20k-scholarship\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Sling Pilot Academy Awards 2019 $20K Scholarship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Throughout his journey from Costa Rica to the USA,\nCalifornia student pilot, Anthony \u2018Tony\u2019 Jimenez, has dreamed of becoming a\nprofessional aviator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Anthony-Jimenezedit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14357\" width=\"224\" height=\"282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Anthony-Jimenezedit.jpg 400w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Anthony-Jimenezedit-238x300.jpg 238w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><figcaption><em>Anthony &#8216;Tony&#8217; Jimenez<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Even with aggressive new programs like that offered by the\nSling Pilot Academy (SPA), such pursuits seem at first, daunting, but Anthony\u2019s\nrecent win in a $20K scholarship competition makes his dream all the more\nachievable as he earns his goal of joining the worldwide aviation community as\na professional pilot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pursuing a childhood fascination with aviation that was\nnurtured by his Father, who would take him to see the airplanes at a local\nairport, Tony noted that it\u2019s been a rough road sometimes, \u201cbut I\u2019m here\u201c\u2026 and\nI\u2019m really grateful to the Sling Pilot Academy for giving me the opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SPA Co-Founder, Wayne Toddun, is a huge fan of Tony\u2019s\nmission in life, \u201cTony was an obvious standout from the beginning\u201c\u2026 his\ndedication to seeing this dream come true was incredible and he\u2019s impressed\neveryone here with his commitment to becoming a great pilot.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SPA Partner Jean D&#8217;Assonville, added that, \u201cI was lucky\nenough to get to fly with Anthony and he is a true natural, he is going to ace\nthis thing!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jimenez could have a bright future ahead of him as demand\nfor pilots continues to grow beyond the current ability of the market to supply\nproperly trained aviators.
