Ms.\nFlint will commence her new role in April 2020 following more than 4 years as\nCEO of Los Angeles World Airports and 24 years serving in executive roles in\nthe aviation industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Deborah-Flint-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14346\" width=\"253\" height=\"216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Deborah-Flint-2.jpg 668w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Deborah-Flint-2-300x257.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 253px) 100vw, 253px\" \/><figcaption><em>Deborah Flint<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Deborah is a proven aviation executive who has been\nleading Los Angeles World Airports, one of the world&#8217;s largest passenger and\ncargo airports, through a period of significant transformation, including the\ndevelopment of an intermodal transit center,&#8221; said Doug Allingham, Chair\nof the GTAA Board of Directors. &#8220;The GTAA Board undertook a global search\nfor a new leader to help guide Toronto Pearson through its next phase of\ngrowth, and we are pleased to have found a Canadian-born airport executive with\nthe energy, passion and experience to continue on with our vision to make\nToronto Pearson the best airport in the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her role at Los Angeles World Airports, which operates\nboth Los Angeles International and Van Nuys (general aviation) airports, Ms.\nFlint has focused the organization on the $14-billion modernization of its\nterminals, runway improvements, and a comprehensive transit program that\nincludes roadway improvements and an intermodal transportation facility.&nbsp; Ms. Flint&#8217;s deep experience in connecting\nairports to regional transit networks dates back to her tenure as Aviation\nDirector of Oakland International Airport where she delivered the BART, a $480\nmillion Airport Rail Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;In the world of international airports, Toronto\nPearson is a rising and notable star, known for its significant accomplishments\non passenger service, growth in passenger traffic, and its leadership in\nworking with both industry and community partners to take a regional\nperspective on the role a mega-hub airport plays in lifting those around\nit,&#8221; said Ms. Flint.&nbsp; &#8220;As a\nCanadian-born airport executive, I consider it a privilege to be able to return\nhome to lead this organization and ensure it continues to deliver benefits to\nall of our stakeholders.&#8221;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los Angeles World Airports has an impressive story, serving\nmore than 87.5 million passengers and 2 million tons of cargo in 2018.&nbsp; In addition to being the 4th busiest\npassenger airport in the world, it is the only U.S. airport to serve as a hub\nfor four U.S. legacy carriers (Alaska Airlines, American, Delta and\nUnited).&nbsp; It is considered to be one of\ntwo North American mega-hub airports, with Toronto Pearson focused on joining\nthe ranks by the end of 2019.&nbsp; Mega-hub\ninternational hub airports serve more than 50 million passengers, with a high\npercentage of connecting and international passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a recognized leader within the international and U.S.\naviation community, Ms. Flint serves as a member of the Airports Council\nInternational board, appointee to the U.S. DOT Drone Advisory Committee, and\nChair of the Oversight Committee of the Transportation Research Board&#8217;s Airport\nCooperative Research Program.&nbsp; Beyond the\nairport industry, she has served on the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank and\nis a Director of the Honeywell Corporation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms. Flint will take over the position as President and CEO\nfollowing the planned retirement of current President and CEO Howard Eng in\nMarch 2020.&nbsp; Mr. Eng led Toronto Pearson\nfrom 2012 and oversaw a period of record passenger growth, a dedicated focus on\ncustomer service and a dramatic expansion of the airport&#8217;s retail and service\nofferings.&nbsp; Mr. Allingham thanked Mr. Eng\nfor his years of service and wished him a happy and productive retirement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;After nearly 40 years running airports around the world,\nHoward&#8217;s retirement is a bittersweet moment in the history of Toronto\nPearson,&#8221;
