{"id":1434,"date":"2014-03-08T16:56:56","date_gmt":"2014-03-08T16:56:56","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2014-03-08T16:56:56","modified_gmt":"2014-03-08T16:56:56","slug":"governor-releases-966-million-hawaii-airports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/hawaii\/governor-releases-966-million-hawaii-airports\/%20","title":{"rendered":"GOVERNOR RELEASES $96.6 MILLION FOR HAWAII AIRPORTS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governor Neil Abercrombie announced the release of more than $96.6 million for the construction of capital improvement projects (CIP) at state airports that will further stimulate Hawaii\u2019s growing economy and job environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur airports are the first impression of Hawaii for many of our visitors and these improvements, in conjunction with our Hawaii Airports Modernization Program, will help turn them into safer, world-class facilities,\u201d Gov. Abercrombie said. \u201cWith the recent stabilization of our visitor industry, we will need projects like these to continue to expand our economy through construction.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), Airports Division, is moving forward with the largest group of improvement projects in more than twenty years,&#8221; said Ford  Ford N. Fuchigami, Deputy Director, Department of Transportation &#8211; Airports Division. &#8220;The Governor&#8217;s vision to improve, modernize, and reduce energy use throughout the airport system is becoming a reality. This investment in the airport system is helping to transform the Aloha State&#8217;s gateway to the world.&#8221;<br \/>\n<!--break--><br \/>\nAllotment of funds for the following projects, identified by state legislators, has been approved by the Governor:<\/p>\n<p>$50,000,000 \u2013 Taxiway Z Structural Improvements, Honolulu International Airport, Oahu \u2013 Pavement reconstruction of Taxiway Z. Taxiway Z will be paved with new asphalt and concrete that will have more structural integrity.
