Rick Larsen\n(D-2-WA), Don Young (R-AK) and Angie Craig (D-2-MN), and will \u201cincrease\nawareness of career opportunities in the transportation sector, including\naviation pilots, safety inspectors and technicians, air traffic controllers,\nflight attendants, truck drivers, engineers, transit workers, railroad workers,\nand other transportation professionals.\u201d The legislation also seeks to increase\ndiversity of workers in this sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe United States transportation industry, and in\nparticular the aviation industry, is facing significant workforce challenges,\u201d\nsaid NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. \u201cWe applaud Chairman Larsen, Congressman\nYoung and Congresswoman Craig for introducing this important bipartisan\nlegislation that will help attract the next generation of transportation\nprofessionals at a time when they are most needed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA recognizes the growing shortage of qualified\nprofessionals in the transportation industry, and is proactively working to\naddress the challenge. For the aviation industry, Boeing projects that 804,000\nnew pilots and 769,000 new maintenance technicians will be needed worldwide\nover the next 20 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNBAA is dedicated to developing the next generation of\ntransportation professionals,\u201d noted Bolen. \u201cWe look forward to working with\nCongress, and other stakeholders, to address this pressing issue.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The association urges members to directly contact their\nelected officials in Washington, DC to support this legislation by using NBAA\u2019s\nContact Congress resource.
