{"id":14221,"date":"2019-11-18T17:43:45","date_gmt":"2019-11-18T17:43:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=14221"},"modified":"2019-11-18T17:43:47","modified_gmt":"2019-11-18T17:43:47","slug":"kansas-state-polytechnic-hires-lindsey-dreiling-as-first-executive-director-of-aviation-strategy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/kansas\/kansas-state-polytechnic-hires-lindsey-dreiling-as-first-executive-director-of-aviation-strategy\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Kansas State Polytechnic Hires Lindsey Dreiling as First Executive Director of Aviation Strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Kansas State University Polytechnic Campus has hired its\nfirst executive director of aviation strategy to help position the school as a\nglobal leader in the aviation industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lindsey-Dreiling-ks.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14222\" width=\"147\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lindsey-Dreiling-ks.jpg 400w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lindsey-Dreiling-ks-223x300.jpg 223w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 147px) 100vw, 147px\" \/><figcaption><em>Lindsey Dreiling<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Lindsey Dreiling, who most recently served as deputy\ndirector of aviation and unmanned aircraft systems for the Kansas Department of\nTransportation, has been hired for the new position at Kansas State Polytechnic\nand will be responsible for fostering and growing partnerships between the\nschool and the aviation industry, as well as broadening access for\nunderrepresented groups in aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As the executive director of aviation strategy,\nLindsey also will be spearheading our Global Aeronautics Initiative,&#8221; said\nAlysia Starkey, CEO and dean of Kansas State Polytechnic. &#8220;This initiative\nhas been developed because of Kansas State Polytechnic&#8217;s unique ability to\nleverage the convergence of rapid technological advancements in manned and\nunmanned aeronautics, demand for advanced systems and processes from those\nsystems, and educational opportunities due to the increasing demand for\nqualified and certified technical experts.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starkey said since Kansas State Polytechnic is already an\nimportant asset to the industry as a respected pacesetter in aviation\neducation, Dreiling&#8217;s experience puts her in an excellent position to spearhead\nthe new initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An experienced commercial fixed-wing pilot, certified flight\ninstructor-instrument and a multiengine flight instructor, Dreiling also has\nexperience with drone operations, holding a small unmanned aircraft systems\npilot certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In previous positions with KDOT, Dreiling served as chief of\nunmanned aircraft systems, helping lead the first statewide unmanned air\ntraffic safety program and taking part in the U.S. Department of Transportation&#8217;s\nUAS Integration Pilot Program. She also served as KDOT&#8217;s manager for marketing\noutreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dreiling is an alumna of Kansas State Polytechnic, earning\ndual bachelor&#8217;s degrees in professional pilot and technology management in\n2007. She also earned a master&#8217;s degree in student development from K-State.\nShe has served Kansas State Polytechnic as an advising coordinator, aviation\nadmissions representative and certified flight instructor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Aviation is in my soul and I am excited to serve the\nindustry by fostering the next generation of aviators in a community known for\nits excellence in aviation,&#8221; Dreiling said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kansas State University Polytechnic Campus has hired its first executive director of aviation strategy to help position the school as a global leader in the aviation industry.
