We need both a talented and diverse future pipeline of aviation\nprofessionals to meet industry demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Matching this excitement, energy and need, on Wednesday,\nOctober 23, the founder and president of California-based I Hart Flying\nFoundation, Rachelle Spector, announced winners from the organizations \u2018Ignite\nthe Magic for Flight\u2019 themed scholarship effort. \u201cWe initially planned to award\ntwo scholarships yet extended an additional $1,000 to a third recipient during\nour announcement at NBAA-BACE. Helping women thrive, learn, grow and stay\nmotivated is why we exist,\u201d shared Spector. \u201cWe are proud of the fall 2019\nrecipients, and continue stronger into 2020 with even more themed, engaging\nopportunities to assist women on their flight paths.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Nicole-Lund-IHFF-Advanced-Rating-Winner.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14157\" width=\"304\" height=\"171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Nicole-Lund-IHFF-Advanced-Rating-Winner.jpeg 960w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Nicole-Lund-IHFF-Advanced-Rating-Winner-300x169.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 304px) 100vw, 304px\" \/><figcaption><em>Nicole Lund<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A senior instrument-rated private pilot at the University of\nNebraska-Omaha, Nicole Lund received the $5,000 advanced flight rating\nscholarship, and was able to accept this award at the show. \u201cIt was my first\ntime attending NBAA-BACE and extremely special to find out, in person, I was\nreceiving this scholarship,\u201d expressed Lund. Lund\u2019s message to the candidates,\n\u201cPlease don\u2019t give up. I could not believe it and\nwas shocked!\u201d Trussell exclaimed. Trussell entered flight training through\nCalifornia Institute of Technology\u2019s Aero Association. She is not only a\nstudent pilot, she\u2019s a woman of STEM, studying geology and planetary sciences.\n\u201cWith this generous scholarship, I will start flying more often and keep\nworking towards inspiring other female pilots by being a positive role model,\u201d\nshe added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kristin-Gibson-IHFF-Scholar-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14159\" width=\"146\" height=\"260\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kristin-Gibson-IHFF-Scholar-576x1024.jpg 576w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kristin-Gibson-IHFF-Scholar-169x300.jpg 169w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kristin-Gibson-IHFF-Scholar.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 146px) 100vw, 146px\" \/><figcaption><em>Kristin Gibson<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A surprising twist to Spector\u2019s announcement, she was so\ninspired by all the women\u2019s stories, and NBAA\u2019s efforts focused on diversity\nand inclusion, she decided to award a third scholarship at $1,000. The\nrecipient, Kristin Gibson, is a flight instructor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical\nUniversity\u2019s Prescott Campus. \u201cMy goal is to become a professional flight\ninstructor, and I\u2019ve faced many financial challenges along the way.
