Dassault Aviation is participating in the Sustainable Aviation\nJet Fuel (SAJF) initiative being held at this year\u2019s National Business Aviation\nAssociation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), to promote the use of\nalternative fuels and help reduce the industry\u2019s carbon footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The demonstration, staged by the NBAA and the General\nAviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), will be a highlight of the show,\nwhich opens on 22 October at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Henderson\nExecutive Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three Falcons on display\u2014an ultra-long range Falcon 8X,\na Falcon 900LX and a Falcon 2000S–all flew to Las Vegas with a blend of SAJF\nand conventional Jet-A1 fuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Falcon aircraft\u2014which are all biofuel compatible–also took\npart in a SAJF demonstration at the European Business Aviation Convention &\nExhibition in May, as well as in recent transatlantic SAJF demo flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt a time when aviation is the target of increasing\ncriticism for its role in greenhouse gas emissions, we are committed to doing\nall we can to help make the industry environmentally sustainable,\u201d said Eric\nTrappier, Chairman & CEO of Dassault Aviation. \u201cOn the one hand, we are\nputting our full support behind actions aimed at promoting the use of\nalternative fuels. And at the same time, we continue to focus on technological\nimprovements that maximize flight efficiency and minimize fuel burn.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dassault is an active member of the International Civil\nAviation Organization\u2019s Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP),\nwhich was instrumental in gaining approval for a new 2050 Vision for\nSustainable Alternative Fuels that will help ensure that a significant\npercentage of SAJF is substituted for conventional jet fuel by 2050. The\ncompany is also supporting CAEP actions in favor of a carbon offsetting scheme\nfor international aviation (CORSIA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to these actions aimed at reducing aviation\u2019s\ncarbon footprint, Dassault is participating in a number of European initiatives\nintended to improve aircraft efficiency. These include the Single European\nSky\u2019s SESAR program, which like NexGen, works to improve efficiency of aircraft\noperations, and the European Clean Sky and French CORAC programs, which seek to\ndetermine how we can reduce fuel consumption by further cutting drag and\nweight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
